About FlowRecall

FlowRecall is a spaced-repetition reading app for students. You read your own PDFs and EPUBs, write your own recall cards, and an FSRS-6 scheduler asks each one again right before you would forget.

What it is, precisely

Two things, kept apart on purpose. You read your own material โ€” a PDF, an EPUB, or notes you paste in โ€” with any word defined in place, and highlight as you would on paper. Separately, in Review, you write the cards: a question on the front, the answer on the back. Then FSRS-6 โ€” the Free Spaced Repetition Scheduler โ€” decides when you are next asked, and asks you with the answer hidden.

The reader never makes cards behind your back, and Review never sends you back into a book. Saving a highlight is entirely local: no network call, no schema, no length cap. That is a deliberate constraint rather than an implementation detail, because the one thing a reading app must never do is lose the sentence a student decided was worth keeping.

Why the student writes the question

Writing the question is the study: deciding what a passage is actually asking is the act that makes it stick. So in Review the student writes every card, and nothing rewrites it.

The AI has its own tab. When there is more to cover than anyone could write by hand, Flashcards makes a deck from notes or a PDF โ€” true-or-false and fill-the-blank cards, each with an explanation โ€” and it stays there, apart from the cards you wrote. Everywhere else the AI stays small: it defines a word you look up, and answers when you Ask about a card.

What it is not

It is not a bulk flashcard generator, for the reason above. It is not a shared deck marketplace โ€” you study the material you were actually assigned, not a stranger's version of it. It is not a note-taking app; notes are where material goes to be re-read, and re-reading is the habit this exists to break.

A spaced-repetition reading and study app for students, used to remember material from PDFs and EPUBs. Unrelated to similarly named developer or game-engine tooling.

Who makes it

I build FlowRecall on my own. I made it because I was drowning in PDFs before my own exams, and none of the apps I tried actually made me recall anything โ€” they just gave me more to read. If it does not do that for you, email me inside seven days and I will refund you myself.

Common questions

What is FlowRecall?
FlowRecall is a spaced-repetition reading app for students. You read your own PDFs and EPUBs, write your own recall cards, and an FSRS-6 scheduler asks each one again right before you would forget.
Is FlowRecall the same as the Unity editor extension with a similar name?
No. FlowRecall is a study application for students, published at www.flowrecall.app and on Google Play as app.flowrecall.android. It is unrelated to similarly named developer or game-engine tooling.
Does the AI write the flashcards for me?
Only if you ask it to. In Review you write your own cards - a question on the front, the answer on the back - and nothing rewrites them. In Flashcards, the AI makes a deck from your notes or a PDF, with an explanation and Ask AI on every card. The two are separate tabs, so your own cards never mix with ones you did not write.
Who makes FlowRecall?
Vineesh makes it, working alone. You can reach them at founder@flowrecall.app.
Is FlowRecall free?
Yes, to start, with no credit card: five AI decks and twenty AI definition lookups a month. Pro is priced for a single exam term rather than as an open-ended subscription.
